2020 has definitely been a year of up and downs. From the spark of Covid-19 we've seen thousands of families across the states become effected on an economic base. The rate of unemployment sparked up as well as the rise of homelessness. With many families dealing with lack of resources Project Black has been on the move through the Summer to advocate and defend the people's rights as well as provide mutual aid through the community. On August 22nd Project Black's Street Medics along with AMP of Rome and United League on Women Voters came together to provide resources to the community and educate on ways to take care of ourselves during the rise of Covid-19. Passing out mask, hand sanitizer, hygiene products, fruits, waters and canned goods Project Black Street medics not only set up to give back to the community but also went door to door to check on the elderly and disabled to make sure they also had necessities for survival met as well. The group activist were also able to educate the youth and get them involved as some finished up with designing the clothe mask they were given. So you may ask what is a Project Black Street Medic. PBSM are a group of dedicated volunteers who commit to the safety and wellness of the community. This group not only host health fairs with the purpose to provide resources and educate the community but they also provide assistance to the people during protest if in the event someone needs water or care due to injury or a health crisis.
The Project Black Street Medics are definitely a team to follow up on and get involved with. Set out to make change in the environment this group of activist as well as the rest involved in Project Black's Solidarity Programs are always looking for more willing and driven people to join in. Project Black plans to engage with the community and empower the people and shall continue to do so as long as this movement lives. There will continue to be health fairs. There will continue to be education of our community. There will continue to be a movement for the people because the movement is the people, working together to stand against the factors that oppress many. Project Black is for the people.
