Make Atlanta Black Again

While Atlanta has been known for being the foundation of Southern Hip-Hop, the black Hollywood and being the home of the Civil Rights Movement it now has a new movement on the rise, M.A.B.A! Make Atlanta Black Again is a movement and Apparel that was created as a solution to the worldwide issue of modern day colonialism also known as gentrification. It is the solution to economic terrorism.

What is gentrification you ask? Gentrification is when an under invested community predominately poor is transformed from low-value high-value. Homes become remodeled, small business are added to the area, and the community is cleaned up or improved to the liking of the buyer. But the problem with this process is that long term residents are usually forced to move due to the prices rising and not being able to afford higher rents, mortgage or property tax. This tends to happen in predominately black communities all while the businesses that are opening are owned by European colonizers and the homes that are remodeled or built become occupied by European residents. This action displaces the original people of the community and forces homelessness on many and prevents people from having a proper foundation to build upon. So while the term is used to say "We're improving this community" in reality the buyers have no true concerns for the resident's, who are the original people of the community, well being.

This problem is a big problem considering that not only are hundreds of black families, men, women and children becoming homeless they are also being separated from their families due to lack of housing. M.A.B.A. was created by Palmetto Star and a group of collective revolutionary thinkers who were ready to bring about change and take action against this war on the native people. Star says he was inspired to take action once seeing people being pushed out of their homes. "Homeless people were being jailed for capitalism" He stated, "Gentrification is an act of terrorism against black people. The methods are violent and destructive This movement helps to identify the problem and put it in its proper perspective. It is also designed to empower the people and defeat this form of terrorism in their area or anywhere else." Star's vision for the movement is to open based companies in Atlanta to increase employment, provide security, circulate black dollars and improve the look and feel of the black communities. The movement will also be used to provide Real Estate Awareness Classes and offer scholarships to home-schooled children.

Star stated though M.A.B.A. is a movement it is also geared to empowering each individual as well. The movement's slogan is "You are the difference", which encourages people to make their own radical and permanent changes.
